Swim Fins
Swim fins are used to help humans to move through the water more easily. Because human feet do not produce a great amount of force when kicking against the water, swimfins are used to increase the surface area that has contact with the water and allow a diver or swimmer to move quickly by producing a great deal of thrust with a comparatively small movement. Most swim fins used today are plastic swim fins; swim fin technology has progressed to form both single and multiple material swim fins with the latest kinds of plastics. There are also variations on the swim fins concept, with swim fins that go on both feet separately as well as monofins that have an even larger combined surface area and attach to both feet at once, making it possible to go very quickly while diving, even with a great deal of heavy equipment attached to the diver.
Proper swim fin technique is important, as simply kicking your legs becomes impossible when swimming with fins. Instead you must use different muscles in order to turn the swim fins up and down in the manner of a fish's tail. This produces the greatest amount of thrust in the water for the least amount of effort, although it can be tiring at first to learn how to swim using the muscles in your ankles instead of the more developed thigh muscles in humans. Body Glove swim fins can produce the greatest amount of thrust with a truly great surface area, and other popular brands of swim fins include SAR swim fins, Hydro swim fins and Tyr split swim fins.
For kids, swim fins children can use are often made of the same kinds of materials and are very similar: they are just mini swim fins. However infant swim fins and child swim fins can still be found with high quality materials if you want a more expensive variety of swim fins. How to choose swim fins: first think about the kind of swimming or diving that you will be engaged in, then decide whether you want lightweight swim fins made out of a simple plastic or a more advanced or heavier variety of swim fins for specific diving needs. If you are a casual user of swim fins the best time to buy your fins may be when you are near the beach and you can buy swim fins that you know will fit you and be appropriate from the local vendor. If you have specific needs it is best to order your swim fins in advance.
